Model Overview

The Tai 3 is a fully electric compact SUV launched by BYD's bespoke lifestyle brand, FANGCHENGBAO. First unveiled in March 2025, the model officially went on sale on 16 April 2025. On 13 March 2026, FANGCHENGBAO introduced the Tai 3 Flash Charge Edition, offering two variants: the 620KM RWD Flash Charge Edition and the 565KM AWD Flash Charge Edition, priced at RM153,800 and RM169,800 respectively. Concurrently, the 2025 standard version remains on sale with a price range between RM133,800 and RM193,800. Positioned as an "A-segment pure electric SUV", the Tai 3 highlights its boxy, rugged design, BYD flash-charging technology, and second-generation Blade Battery as key selling points, aimed at young car buyers looking for distinct styling, rapid charging, and advanced in-car tech.

Design Language

The Tai 3 adopts the "Star Wars Armour" design philosophy, blending mecha-inspired aesthetics with futuristic styling cues. Up front, it features a closed-off grille paired with a parametric crystal fascia, alongside T-shaped lighting units integrated seamlessly into the grille assembly. The side profile highlights a rugged, boxy silhouette, dominated by clean, angular lines, dual waistlines, a floating roof design, and flared wheel arches that lend it a broad, muscular road presence. At the rear, it gets a side-hinged tailgate fitted with an external "wing-style backpack" storage compartment (28-litre capacity). In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,605 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,720 mm tall, with a 2,745 mm wheelbase, while the drone edition sees an overall height increase of 210 mm. Exterior paint options include Moon Silver, Ore Green, Obsidian Black, Element White, and Stardust Purple. Inside, the cabin features a wing-spread dashboard layout, fitted with an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch floating central infotainment touchscreen, and a 12-inch head-up display (HUD). This is complemented by a four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, crystal-style switchgear, and a combat-inspired electronic gear shifter, creating a hardcore, cockpit-like driving environment.

Powertrain and Performance

The Tai 3 is available in single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, with outputs varying by variant.

2025 Standard Edition: The RWD variant delivers a maximum output of 220 kW, while the AWD variant delivers a combined system output of 310 kW, completing the 0-100 km/h century sprint in 4.9 seconds.

2026 Flash Charge Edition: The RWD electric motor's maximum output has been tuned up to 240 kW; the AWD variant adopts a front 135 kW and rear 240 kW dual-motor setup, pushing total system output to 375 kW (approx. 510 PS). The Flash Charge Edition completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds for the RWD and 4.7 seconds for the AWD, with a top speed exceeding 210 km/h.

For energy storage, the Flash Charge Edition is powered by a 75.6 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 620 km for the RWD and 565 km for the AWD. The 2025 standard edition offers 65.28 kWh, 72.96 kWh, and 78.72 kWh battery pack options, offering a CLTC range of 501 km. Built entirely on an 800V high-voltage architecture, the Flash Charge Edition charges from 10% to 70% in roughly 5 minutes and 10% to 97% in around 9 minutes under ambient temperatures; even in freezing temperatures of -30°C, it takes only about 3 minutes longer. First-hand owners are entitled to 18 months of complimentary flash-charging perks.

Chassis and Handling

The Tai 3 is underpinned by FANGCHENGBAO's dedicated intelligent EVO platform. The suspension setup comprises a front double-ball-joint MacPherson independent suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension. The DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system with active road preview comes standard across the range, utilising front cameras to scan the road ahead and adjust damper stiffness in real time. Off-road geometry includes a 25° approach angle and a 28° departure angle, striking a balance between daily urban commuting and light trail-driving capability. The AWD variant is further equipped with the iTAC (intelligent Torque Adaptation Control) system, iATS (intelligent All-Terrain System), "Three Energy Locks", Bao Turn, and Crawl Mode, achieving a tight turning radius of just 3.3 metres. Additionally, it comes equipped with the TSC high-speed tyre blowout stability assist system.

Cabin and Equipment

Inside, the Tai 3 runs on the DiLink intelligent infotainment operating system, with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch W-HUD head-up display fitted as standard across all variants. The head unit features integrated DeepSeek applications and supports four-zone voice recognition, 5G telematics connectivity, and OTA software updates. In terms of comfort and convenience, ventilated/heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad, acoustic double-glazed glass, and 6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse charging capabilities are standard across the lineup. The AWD variant adds premium kit such as front passenger seat memory with an ottoman leg rest, a built-in compressor-driven cooling and warming compartment, a 14-speaker Devialet premium sound system, and an in-car karaoke setup. Practicality-wise, the SUV provides a 151-litre electric front trunk (frunk), a 28-litre external rear storage compartment, and a multi-functional centre console island. The manufacturer has also introduced 14 official custom styling kits and 16 external rear compartment customisation packages.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the active safety front, the Tai 3 is fitted with the "Eye of the Gods" advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The 2025 standard edition comes with the Eye of the Gods C Tri-Focal setup (DiPilot 100) as standard, relying on 29 ADAS sensors including 5 millimetre-wave radars, 12 cameras (including tri-focal cameras), and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The Flash Charge Edition offers an optional LiDAR-equipped Eye of the Gods B version, supporting highway and urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA). Standard driver aids across the range include Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, a 360-degree surround-view monitor, a 540-degree transparent chassis camera system, and full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

For passive safety, the second-generation Blade Battery meets stringent safety standards by acing the nail penetration test. BYD's CTB (Cell-to-Body) structural integration seamlessly merges the battery pack with the vehicle floorpan, which, together with a high-strength steel safety cage, delivers torsional rigidity comparable to ultra-luxury vehicles. In terms of active handling safety, the iTAC system delivers millisecond-level torque adjustments, while the TSC high-speed blowout assist can intervene instantaneously even at cruising speeds of 140 km/h. The vehicle comes backed by a 6-year/150,000 km general warranty (private use), with the first non-commercial owner enjoying a lifetime warranty on the core electric powertrain (battery, motor, and electronic control units).

Market Performance and Reception

The Tai 3 has delivered strong sales numbers since its market debut. In its second month on sale in 2025, monthly deliveries surpassed 12,000 units, topping the pure electric boxy SUV segment, with full-year 2025 sales reaching 65,256 units. Following the debut of the Flash Charge Edition in March 2026, April sales hit 5,206 units; as of 15 June, the Tai 3 comfortably led the June A-segment electric SUV sales charts with 6,244 units delivered. As a brand, FANGCHENGBAO took just 26 months to achieve cumulative sales of over 335,000 units, becoming the fastest-growing automotive marque in the RM200,000 to RM300,000 bracket.

From user feedback and motoring media reviews, the Tai 3's flash-charging capability (10% to 70% in 5 minutes) and second-generation Blade Battery are seen as benchmark-setting features in the RM150,000 EV price segment. Its boxy silhouette and mecha styling cues provide standout road presence in its class, while the AWD variant's 4.7-second 0-100 km/h sprint has earned wide praise. Furthermore, the inclusion of the DiSus-C active suspension and front double-ball-joint/rear five-link setup is a rare find in the RM150,000 price point. On the flip side, road tests have noted that high-speed wind noise insulation could still be refined; its monocoque unibody structure indicates it is engineered primarily for urban driving and light trail use rather than hardcore off-roading; and several high-end comfort amenities are reserved exclusively for the AWD variant. Overall, by bundling flash charging, rugged boxy design, DiSus-C chassis control, and high-level ADAS into an accessible RM150,000-level package with segment-leading specifications, the Tai 3 presents a highly compelling value proposition in the A-segment EV market.
